![]() ![]() ![]() I recommend this book for anyone looking for a fun sci-fi/fantasy read. I look forward to future books in the series. It's a well done example of moral ambiguity, but with a sarcastic tongue in cheek feel as opposed to taking itself too seriously and aiming to be dark. Different types of magic require a cost from the people who have received the gift (the trade) from the lady merchant. The world building is unique and fun offering a different perspective on the workings of magic and what I can only describe as a chocobos. She finds friendship and begrudgingly offers it as well. She finds love and it's a double edged sword. Seven Blades in Black by Sam Sykes is a really fun sci-fi, steam-punk, fantasy mashup. ![]()
